2010 Rule Changes
1. This year the 50, 100, and 200 Road Events will be rides instead of races. They will be non-competitive events. Riders will still be able to get their times, but no awards will be given to participants in these rides.
2. No Support Vehicles are allowed to assist any riders and no relay exchanges may take place until Mile 120.2 (the Heck Monument pull out). Similarly, in the last five miles of the 200-mile and 300KM events, no Support Vehicles are allowed to assist any riders and no relay exchanges may take place.
3. Support Vehicles shall not park on the shoulder of the highway. The Support Vehicles must stop either in designated pullouts or at least a car door’s width off the pavement. Any Support Vehicle stopping in such a way that passing riders are forced out of the shoulder and into the traffic will be disqualified. Team numbers must be displayed in the front and back of the Support Vehicle and race officials will disqualify (not just warn) any team whose Support Vehicle is violating this rule.
4. Relay exchanges will again be rolling exchanges. However, after a relay exchange has taken place, the incoming must stop and wait for his/her Support Vehicle to come to the rider or the rider. No rider shall ride the course in the reverse direction at any time. A rider, however, may dismount, turn and walk his/her bike back to the support vehicle on far left side of the shoulder of the highway.
5. Pace Vehicles may only be used in the 400 mile event.
