What does my entry fee include?

Race numbers for bike and rider, water bottle, T-shirt, Aid Stations and porta-potties along the course, bike maintenance support at Sheep Mountain, support to Alaska youth athletics, and amazing scenery your entire ride.

Where are the events held?

Race start is at Sheep Mountain Lodge, mile 115 NE of Anchorage. This is the finish for the 50, 100, and 400 events. 200 and 300 riders finish in Valdez. The course follows the Glenn and Richardson Highways.

When do the races start?

The 300 and 400 start on Friday at noon. The 200 individual race starts The 200 relays start The 100 TT 100 ride 50 TT 50 ride The 300 riders overnight on Friday at the Tonsina Lodge, 120 miles from Sheep Mountain, and complete the ride on Saturday

Where and when is bib pickup?

Bib pickup for local residents is at the BP Energy Center, 900 E Benson Blvd, Anchorage on Thursday Noon to 2 pm and 5:30 to 7:30.

What if I can’t meet at those times?

* Contact us before July if you cannot make this mandatory bib pickup. Riders outside of Anchorage may pick up their bibs (and sign waivers) at Sheep Mountain Lodge greenhouse on Friday from 10-11 am and from 5-8 pm, and Saturday morning from 8-9.

Where and when do I sign UMCA Release of Liability?

At bib pickup in Anchorage, Thursday July or at Sheep Mountain Lodge on race days, Friday, or Saturday morning.

Where do I stay the night before and after my event?

Most Alaskans camp out on the dirt runway at Sheep Mountain Lodge prior to the race. Space in the lodge itself is limited and books quickly. Camping is available after the race in Valdez. There are facilities for RV camping at the start and in Valdez. Hotels, B&Bs are available in Valdez. The 300 riders overnight on Friday at the Tonsina Lodge 120 miles from Sheep Mountain, and complete the ride to Valdez on Saturday.

Is there food at Sheep Mountain?

A spaghetti dinner is available for purchase on Friday evening 6-9 pm, and a buffet breakfast Saturday morning from 4:30 -5:30 am. Pizza and salad is available for 50, 100, and 400 riders at the finish, or you can order from the restaurant.

Is there food in Valdez at the race finish?

Yes, picnic style. Also, restaurants are nearby.

How do I get back to Anchorage from Valdez?

You must provide your own transportation. Unsupported single riders can usually arrange a ride at registration from fellow racers. Valdez Drive will take you from Valdez to the start, 5 person minimum (907-835-4402, www.valdezudrive.com.) Also, consider taking the ferry from Valdez to Whittier, and ride or hitch to Anchorage from Whittier, approximately 50 miles. You must make your reservations early with the Alaska Marine Highway.
