Great Alaska Half Century

Race Overview

The Fireweed is a Biking Event offering riders of all skill levels a place to ride and have fun! The Great Alaska Half Century has participation options ranging from a competitive race to a leisurely tour on a comfortable bikes. We have seen riders atop road bikes, fat bikes and everything in between. While riders go up and over Eureka Pass, they will be treated to glacier vistas and mountain grandeur. The route is an out and back route from Sheep Mountain Lodge. Everyone is a volunteer and all profits are given to athletic youth groups. Watch out, the volunteer helping you on the course may be an Olympian!

The 50-mile course starts at Sheep Mountain Lodge (Glenn Highway Milepost 113.5) and heads east toward Glennallen until it reaches the aid station at Milepost 135.9. This aid station is located in the paved pullout on the left (north) side of the highway. The course makes its turnaround at this aid station and heads back to the finish line at Sheep Mountain Lodge.
